About the Church

We Believe

The fourteen (14) cardinal statements of faith that Central Light Grace Chapel embraces are deeply rooted in the word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and approved by God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, the Godhead (Matthew 28:19). The Central Light Grace Chapel proudly and sincerely proclaims these articles of faith, not only on Sundays, but on a daily basis, as we endeavor to "Living What We Profess."

Declaration of Faith

We Believe:

  • In the verbal inspiration of the Bible
  • In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
  • In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
  • Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
  • In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
  • In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.
  • In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
  • Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
  • In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.
  • In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
  • In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

History of Central Light Grace Chapel

Central Light Grace Chapel, which was initially known as the West Broward Church of God, was established in 1981 under the guidance of the late Bishop John P. Davidson and Reverend Camey Davidson. The church had a small membership and was officially re-registered in Florida in 1995. The church persevered through faith and unity, despite a series of adversities, such as the sudden departure of Bishop Davidson in 2001, and the unceremonious or abrupt eviction from our Lauderdale Manor location. This unexpected and drastic disruption led us through a brief stint of nomadic existence of worshipping without a permanent home. The rebounding congregation after such social and emotional shocks reorganized and held worship at the Lauderdale Lakes Multi-Purpose Hall and the Inverrary Hotel in the city of Lauderhill. Under the God driven leadership of Bishop Dr. Maurice Anthony Clarke and First Lady, Rev. Dr. Annette Clarke and the very faithful leadership team of deacons and counselors, they led the church, as the church grew and the Lord added to the church daily like the first century church (Acts 2:42).

Over the period of two years, we migrated to our present location under a lease contract, 4760 North State Road 7, Lauderdale Lakes, Florida 33319. Subsequently, the congregation purchased and established the 8,000-square-foot facility. This facility includes the current Deacon Ferdie Ivan Morgan Banquet Hall and a sanctuary that can accommodate over 300 congregants. In retrospect, the church legally underwent two name changes over the years, transitioning from West Broward Church of God to Grace Fellowship Center. Finally, to Central Light Grace Chapel, which remains profoundly dedicated to its Christ-centered and community-focused mission.

Central Light Grace Chapel is profoundly influenced by the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). The church prioritizes evangelism, discipleship, servant leadership, family enrichment, and social outreach to address the spiritual and practical needs of the community. Central Light Grace Chapel is currently engaged in a variety of social ministries, community food outreach programs, mental health and pastoral counselling Probono, legal referrals, Bible College, Bible Studies, Fasting and Prayer gatherings, and leadership development. These programs are richly rooted in the foundation of Christ in faith, righteousness, worship, fellowship, and evangelism. The congregation is both diverse and expanding, and CLGC is making a significant impact on greater communities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Our Faith

Central Light Grace Chapel revere the words of David as he speaks in Psalm 40:2-3 “ He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings”.3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.”

Our Family

To our new converts, new members, guests, visitors and those without a church home if you are looking for a strong church, don’t look at the same superficial or subjective features that everyone else looks for. At Central Light we exemplify that the gospel changes lives and this is manifested in sound doctrine, Godly leaders, compelling mission and vision, Biblical preaching and teaching, unified standards, and a loving and caring community. We are totally sold out about reverence to the gospel.
